A friend (he is also an enabler) has a pre 27 3.5" barrel, blued, grips are period correct but not numbers matching, has been carried a lot & shows it. Lh grip has a chip out of the top. Bluing is probably 80%. I have a couple of pictures but am challenged at posting. Oh S/N 1610XX. I have several k frames & a couple of L's but no N's yet this one is strictly a shooter but I know these are going out of sight. He is wanting $850.00.

Sounds like a fair price for that gun.
Since it'll be your first N-frame I'm gonna warn you, they are very addictive and I guarantee you it won't be long until you are looking for your next one ;)

In the condition you describe it sounds about $100 too high to me but
others will tell you to jump on it. Always easy to spend other people's
money. Pictures would help.

Without any stand out problems that sounds like an OK deal for a shooter. Anything mechanical or any pitting and I would pass.

About six months ago I got a pre-27 for $575 at lgs. Posters agreed that it was a very good price. But I suspect, and both guns sound similar, that $750 would be a better price w/o box, papers or numbered grips. I agree with awlslate, the price is high. Look at my 'd-camera-don't-lie-pictures; mine is 80% at best. Pick yours apart and you might save a hundred or more. :)

Offer him $700 and have cash on hand (hundreds are good). You might be able to get it for less. Remember, old well made guns are like land, they ain't making any more of it.

It also seems high to me for the condition, even if it is a 3 ½ (which always sell for a premium). But even if you over pay it won't be long before prices catch up to you!

The 3.5" pre-27 is one of the hottest items out there right now. The asking price would be considered reasonable around here. Of course, if you can get it cheaper, by all means do so.

you won't miss the extra hundred. thats a meal out with the family at a decent restaurant. buy it.

Wrong. Find another one. And not a 5 inch. Just can't compare a 5 inch to a 3.5inch. Like comparing a Camaro to a Ford Taurus Not going to work. I know everyone gets that one "deal" but 850 is. A good buy. And yes obviously offer less, but 850 is a good price on a 3.5 inch in that condition

Heck send me the info. I will buy it. Give me a week and I will make 2 Benjamins on it. And provide the details.

Hey now Jim.....A 5" Pre 27 is FAR from a Ford Taurus.

I have to agree with Jim....at $850 I don't need pictures. Short of missing the barrel or it being a rust bucket I would buy 10 at that price.

What was this sellers contact info again?:)

By the way Alex...that is a nice Ford Taurus you have also....would it be better if we referred to it as a VW Jetta....lol
