What would this group suggest as a fair purchase price for a pre-29 4" in 98+ %. It is contained in its proper box with all correct tools. The box show storage /handling marks but is intact.

Could you supply more info about both gun and case? For example, a five-screw gun is going to be worth more than a comparable four-screw gun. Making sure the case is correct for the gun is important, too.

Serial number appears to put it at early '57. Case is blue 'leatherette' screw driver is the black knurled variety. Grips are correct. Slight tears inside case but all intact. Anything else?

Cant do pics. Not mine..... Looking to buy hence the quest for guidance.
Yes on cokes. Been fired .......light turn ring...box not 98% are what keeps it from 100% in my opinion.

Actually, the serial number and if it's a 4/5 screw is very helpful to narrow the possibilities of when the gun was shipped. All 4 inch 5 screw 44 Magnums are scarce with those shipping in 1956 arguably rare, thus affecting the value significantly - a 3500 gun vs a 2000 gun for example. If you'll post the number perhaps we can help better determine a value. A factory letter is the only way to know for certain however.

If the 44 Magnum is a 5-screw and all correct (stocks, case, accessories) I would value it at $3,000. If it is a 4-screw, I would value it at $2,500. If the 44 Magnum actually shipped in 1956, it would be worth more to me because I collect early guns (premium around 15-20 percent).

If I were going to make an offer on it, I would start by offering 80 percent of the above values and be prepared to go up to them.

Thanks men. That is the guidance I needed. I willl follow the advice of DOC44 and I believe success will be mine based upon where the starting prices is.

More to come.
