Pre 29 leatherette presentation box value

First time post: I'm looking at a pre 29 presentation case for sale and I was wondering if someone could express an opinion on value based on an actual recent sale. I'm already in possession of both the pistol and a box, but the one listed is in much better condition than the box I own. I would rate the listed box as "good" condition. One small tear of the interior lining. Outside of the box is fully intact with no tears or stains. Gold lettering is faded. This is the black leatherette presentation box with gold hinges and lock and satin like interior. Any educated opinions would be appreciated. Just to clarify this is a S&W factory presentation box for a 6.5 inch barrel S&W pre29 44 magnum. Mid 1950s vintage. Good condition for its age. Just the box. Welcome! There was a recent ad for one at $850 that did not sell, and my impression is one in the condition you describe is probably in the $500-600 range.

Four inchers are a bit harder to find than 6.5s.

As mentioned $500 - $600 seems to be the going rate for these. Joe Cebull on this forum does excellent restoration on these cases. He did mine.

Thanks, I knew Joe did excellent work on wood cases and liners but not on these also.

If it helps, one just sold on GB on Sarah15 for $580. By going there you can compare the condition of the one you are talking about to the one that sold for $580.

I've seen these cases sell for up to $1,000 of course, depending on condition. Also, this price would include the tools (screwdriver, cleaning rod, brush, etc.)
