I have been looking for a J frame snubbie to carry and ran across this one and traded for it. It is a little too nice for me to carry so I'll probably let someone else enjoy it. The box is numbered to the gun and in very good condition with some paperwork inside. The smudges shown is oil on the finish. Serial number is 277XX. Can anyone provide some info as approximate date of birth and current value?

It does still have the aluminum cylinder.

nice looking gun.....tell me what you want for it...I'd like to have it if we can work out a deal.....

Great find! It looks to be in very good shape, with box and all. I probably wouldn't carry it either, but I would definitely keep it. A model 36 with a little wear on it for carry might make a nice sister gun to this one.

If those are oil smudges and the finish is really nice, an original with the aluminum cylinder is worth between $800 and $1200. I have a mint one and wouldn't let it go for under a grand, if that. My opinion only.

Excellent gun. The alloy cylinders tend to scar up easily and yours look relatively unmarked.
The original red box (assuming it has the matching serial number on the bottom) adds to the collector value.
$1000 minimum, maybe as much as $1200.

Thanks for all the info. The box, grips, and original aluminum cylinder are all numbered to the gun. It has been fired at sometime but there are no cracks in the cylinder. I have taken some better photos without the smudges and I have plans to list this on GB late this weekend if anyone is interested.
