Today is the local gun show and prior to going my FFL enabler posted a nice 15-2 on the broker. I popped by and plunked my $400 down for a beautiful example of the 15-2 with serial putting in the 1967 range. No box or papers and came with Jay Scott grips also in perfect shape. Was literally a sock drawer gun from an estate. Small bit of rust on the frame that came off with some brass brushing and some oil- I’d rate this 98% as it hardly shows any bluing loss.
Headed over to the show since the county was there to add it to my permit and looked around. Several model 15s but the cheapest was $595 and was a beater.
Figure this is the perfect match for my 18-2 to teach folks to shoot since it the same frame. Start with .22 move up to wadcutters then on to standard 158 gr and maybe a +P at the end.
I was hoping for a deal at the show but got it earlier!
while I am a fan of the Herrett’s I’m on the hunt for original grips for each to match even better. I’m guessing I need the diamond pattern grips for both.
