Pre model 42 parts lot price question?

A friend has a pre 42 with a cracked frame..any idea on a price for all the parts minus the frame, smooth grips in great condition, barrel and side plate blueing also good? Looking for a realistic price for S&W members..not GB prices. Thanks, Joe

The grips if in nice condition have some value but nothing special with the rest of the parts that are interchangeable with other J frames except for the squeeze cocker mechanism. Used parts that are fit to a specific gun may or may not work properly in another. I would look at eBay pricing and go from there. If someone needed a cylinder or barrel you might get $50 for each.

Grips

The only guns those grips will fit are the mod 40 & mod 42. The washer in the back is smaller than other J frames.

There should also be a small pin inside the grips so you could pin down the squeezer if desired. A collector would buy the pin since many of them seemed to disappear. $40 - $50 for the grips I would think if excellent.
