Until recently I hadn’t bought any Smith & Wessons from before WWII. Obviously I needed a nice example of a 38/44 Outdoorsman so here it is:

My apologies for not cleaning up around the cylinder release before photographing it. The blueing there is a-ok.

Nice example is definitely an understatement. Please post a range report when you can. I have one that has a king front sight. It shoots high with any bullet weight above 158gr. It hits spot on at 25yds with this Lyman bullet with the rear sight bottomed out. Can’t remember the mold model off top of my head.

Mine also has a King front sight, it's the closest I'll probably get to a pre-war magnum, especially with a healthy dose of 2400 and a Keith SWC.

AFKIRBY, your king front sight looks taller than mine based on the space between the red insert and the bottom of the sight. I assume you’re able to shoot the heavier bullets and not print too high.

Mtgianni, yes I believe that’s the mould. Absolutely love that bullet for most of my 38/357 shooting.
