I bought this sucker over my cell phone on the way to a family gathering. It had just been listed on GB with a low Buy-It-Now price. The pictures weren't great, but I called the seller and the gun sounded pretty clean. I finally got the gun today, and I'm pretty happy. I realize that the insert is wrong on the presentation box. It came with some aftermarket wood presentation grips that are pretty nice (not the ones in the pic below), a Safariland leather holster, tools, all paperwork, and a gray box without a label. I have another gun that shipped with a presentation box and the cardboard 2-piece box for it was not labeled either. The gun is very clean. I was worried that it would be scratched up, etc. Not so. It's really nice.
The only bummer is that the factory S&W target grips that shipped with the gun have a very noticeable chip in them. The gun is wearing my Kuracs in the photo. I sent the seller an email to see what he's willing to do about it. I got a pretty good deal on the gun, but I don't feel like I should have to pay for a set of target grips that don't have a chip. The chip wasn't mentioned in the listing and there weren't any photos that showed the grips well. The gun was wearing the aftermarket grips in the listing.
Gun is serial numbered N627XXX, so it probably shipped between 1979 to 1980.
