All I have at the moment is this photo which I believe shows, amoung other firearms a PC 945. Based on the SCS&W 3rd edition I also think it's a product# 170169.

Does that look correct to you all and if so what would be the going rate for that model presuming excellent or better and no other items like extra mag, case/box, etc? TIA

If that is a Performance Ctr gun, you might want to call S&W and ask what it origionaly sold for. I don't show it in my Blue Book. However my book is one edition behind. I could not find the latest edition at the last gunshow. Sorry not much help. You might try Gunbroker, Gunsamerica, etc, and see what others are selling for. Also try the search function here.

Thanks for the reply. Most of the PC 945 models I've found at the various auction sites seem to be the full size guns and they are going for or at least being offered in the $1000+ range.

Haven't run across any of the smaller models like this one. Guess it would bring as much, maybe more?

That sure does look like a 945. My info says there were only 250 made back in 01.

They have been going for around 1200 + lately.

I know, this is not the right one. I don't have any pics of my black one, so this will have to do. Same info on either one.

Thanks for the reply. Have you shot yours? If so what was your load and how did it perform?

All of the PC short barreled guns shoot very well. I have owned all the variations made at one time or another.

The shorter the barrel the heavier the bullet is what I have found. Of course, that's with not adjusting the sights at all. My 3 1/4" one loves 230 grn ball ammo. Lighter bulletts only make a difference with POI, not accuracy.

I don't use these as range guns, but I do shoot them. I have yet to experience any failure to go bang with any one of them with whatever I have used for ammo. I usualy run 200 grn LSWC rounds when practicing, never a hitch.

Thanks again for the reply Bob and by the way that is a beautiful firearm.

Also ran across a Kimber Elite Carry today, one of 1200 made in 1998 and similar in size to this PC945. Decisions, decisions.

RS,

I was just thinking about that after reading another Kimber vs another brand thread.

The thought that came to my mind was that if you want a mass assembled gun with drop in mim parts that looks pretty, go for the Kimber. If you want a hand built quality piece, go for the 945.

Once again, it's a no brainer. Besides they only made 250 of the 945s.
