My local pusher has a 686 no dash 8" 3/8ths that they want $599 for. It looks to be in fantastic shape. No box that I can tell and it has what look to be rubber Hogues. I think $599 is reasonable, am I correct. The biggest issue is the barrel length. I said I would not get another 8" 3/8th again because they are not practical for anything but the range but I do have other carry guns.... ;0)

I would trample an old lady to get to that gun for $600. I need a longer barrel revo for PPC since my eyes are failing. Longer sight radius helps in PPC when the sights are fuzzy. That is just a way cool gun. Not practical to carry, but I still need one.

They are great shooters! I love shooting mine. Not a carry gun, per say, but effective in hunting and range usage. Prices vary but 600 sounds fair. A vintage smith is always a nice find,if we can and usually do justify it.

OK, I went back and took a second look. It comes with the wooden presentation box and the original S&W Target grips plus the Hogues. Not only that but they were having a big sale and they took 20% off so I got it for $479. Put half down and will pick it up in a few weeks. They already have a M19-3 and a Pre M27 6" on hold too.

I think this will be a great range gun...guess I need a larger range bag. My Glock 4 gun bag was never meant to carry an 8"3/8th Smith.

Thanks for the input gents. Much appreciated.

armybass,

Since prices have gone through the roof recently, 600 would have been a decent price, and 480 is outstanding. I have the same thing in a -3, and I got it in 2005(as I recall) for 400 -but that was 2005.
