This isn't a WTB but I need some info before placing one. Thinking about using my stripped .455 HE frame to build a Heavy Duty "tribute" (sounds much better than clone or copy:D).

What should I expect to pay for a 4" Heavy Duty barrel and cylinder assembly, preferably with yoke? Remaining finish wouldn't be important but metal condition and bore would.

Thanks!:D

38/44 HD Parts

Barrels in the white, mostly 6" ones, show up on GB on a regular basis. Prices range from $85-150. Cylinders should be within the same price range. A good way to see whats out there is to put a WTB ad in the classifieds on this forum. You will need a few more parts: ejector star (usually hard to find), ejector rod, and center pin, as a start. Members usually have a stash of spare parts. I have a take off 4" if interested from a post war HD. PM me if interested. Others will be along to comment on parts availability.

Thanks, that's what I needed to know before placing a WTB. If they were going to run $300/ea the original .45 plan would come back into play LOL!:D

And yes, PM inbound...:D

Complete cylinder assemblies that are fitted and numbered can run as high as $350 and barrels are in the range above unless it is a pre war 4 or 6.5", which since they are rare, can bring a premium.

1Aspenhill, thanks and that's a great website you have!

Is the ejector star HD specific or will a .357 ejector star work?

The star for the .38 and the .357 are the same.

Bob

But be advised they are fitted so it may require some fitting work by you or your gunsmith. I think it iimportant to get them together if possible.
Thanks,
Bill
