Can anyone help with an approximate value of this rifle?
It belongs to friend of mine and he's like to sell it.

Its 458 Win. Mag.

Thanks in advance.

There are a couple ending in a few hours on GB. Bids are currently $1,126 and $1,575. It would be worth seeing what they end up at. I'd post them for you here, but that's a no no.

thank you, you could always send me a private message. :D

That scope on that rifle is a not at all great idea. The extreme recoil crossed with the general quality of a Simmons scope means that any upcoming shot could be the next one that walks from point of aim or it lets loose internally.

Fantastic rifle but high recoil and extremely low end scope, typically means burning through ammo and not getting the results you want.

For years, I have never ever seen a model 1 for less than $1100 or $1200.

#1s are made in batches for a wide number of calibers. 458 isn't likely to be particularly common, so when it does sell, it will be to somebody that wants that specific caliber.

These big-bore No.1's exert a strange fascination. I've shot one, and I flirted with one on offer for quite a while years back, ended up resisting successfully. They really don't have much utility beyond shooting for fun; few people go to Africa to face an elephant holding a single-shot rifle with occasional extraction/ejection issues.

And as said before, the scope on this one is a bad match for the caliber. Not just the economy quality but also the high magnification.

So what matters to your friend wanting to sell this is that nobody who knows their stuff will pay extra for the scope. He may do better offering the rifle clean and selling the scope separately for a few bucks.

This is kind of what I was thinking.

Thank you.
