My friend and I stumbled into a fellow at the last gun show we attended that had a whole bunch of old S&W prewar and postwar parts. Most of them had to have come from a service center/gunshop or something else. (This show was 4 months ago, why it took me this long to think of asking this, I have no idea.
)
Anyway, he had some in the white, blued and nickel K-frame M&P barrels of many various lengths which had clearly never been on gun of any kind- had them in a bin. I saw the price tag of $10.00 and thought "Hmm...not too bad a deal- do I need one." I found a 6" blue barrel, told the feller "I'd take it" and handed him a $20 and he told me "look again." Although it wasn't clear, the price sticker was $100- not ten.
I promptly put the barrel back, snatched back my Jackson and gave him a glaring look of "Are you kidding?" and went on my way.
I figured that his price had to be less than Gun Parts, right?
They sell M&P and Victory prewar leftovers in the white, but finished polished for $30-47.
Heck, I might be wrong, but it is possible they actually have a barrel or two in stock for 1899's right now, or it could be a top break...impossible to tell unless ordered.
So, would those prices be out of reason to pay for prewar barrels?
