My friend and I stumbled into a fellow at the last gun show we attended that had a whole bunch of old S&W prewar and postwar parts. Most of them had to have come from a service center/gunshop or something else. (This show was 4 months ago, why it took me this long to think of asking this, I have no idea. :p)

Anyway, he had some in the white, blued and nickel K-frame M&P barrels of many various lengths which had clearly never been on gun of any kind- had them in a bin. I saw the price tag of $10.00 and thought "Hmm...not too bad a deal- do I need one." I found a 6" blue barrel, told the feller "I'd take it" and handed him a $20 and he told me "look again." Although it wasn't clear, the price sticker was $100- not ten. :o
I promptly put the barrel back, snatched back my Jackson and gave him a glaring look of "Are you kidding?" and went on my way.

I figured that his price had to be less than Gun Parts, right?
They sell M&P and Victory prewar leftovers in the white, but finished polished for $30-47.

Heck, I might be wrong, but it is possible they actually have a barrel or two in stock for 1899's right now, or it could be a top break...impossible to tell unless ordered.

So, would those prices be out of reason to pay for prewar barrels?

$100 is nuts. You can get a way better deal on gunbroker. Sarco also has a lot of Victory Model parts. I don't know why, but there do seem to be a lot of unissued M&P barrels out there. Pay careful attention to whether the barrel is in 38 S&W or 38 Special.

You can call Numrich and ask them what the deal is on the parts they have on their web site, or you can post on their forum. They are very helpful up there...
