I stopped by my favorite supply house yesterday, just to browse and pock up a K of primers. Ya, right.

They had a couple K of Federal LR at $40 a thousand. WOW!

Some LR Mag primers and a few shotgun primers.

Bullet supply was bad so I left. I talked to the lady and she said they have had primers and bullets on order for some time and they just dribble in. Gone as soon at it hits the shelf. Good supply of powder, in 1 lb containers.

I guess I am lucky I have some on the shelf yet.

Last week I got a 1000 Federal large pistol and they cost me $34.00.

The owner of the gun shop told me he couldn't get them any more.

If you want to talk STUPID - there was a brick of 1000 Winchester large pistol I believe on Gunbroker that was at $77 and that wasn't the final price!!

You think that's bad, check out this auction (closed) of the genius that spent $120 + $10 shipping for 1,000 Federal LR mag primers!!!

I think its going to get a lot worse before it gets better. The range that I shoot at is losing busines quickly as their supply of loaded range ammo has dried up. The shooters who reload and did not go crazy with buying late last year have cut their shooting down to just once and awhile. These were hard core shooters who shot several times a week along with the usual weekend regulars. Most are trying to save what little they have and will not be shooting much if any at all until this mess gets better. I look for many of the smaller ranges to think about closing unless their regulars start shooting again and that doesn't look to happen anytime soon.

Jeez, you guys aren't kidding! I just got in to reloading, in fact I just got my new Dillon 550 put together and all my other stuff ready. All proud of myself I went to my local gun store to get primers and powder. Not a primer to be had. Checked 8 stores in the SoCal area and no luck. Checked on line and no one is even taking back orders. I guess the jokes on me, after 40 years of shooting, I finally get around to rolling my own and I can't!

Seems like, doesn't it? But not true. This all started 2007 when the price of metals started to climb and when lead for casting was going for 1 to 1.25 a lb. Then it slipped over to primers and bullets.

Gander Mountain has a sign up that they have the right to limit sales of ammo and reloading supplies. Asking $32.00 for 1,000 Winchester LP
Also at 4 Wal-Marts this weekend and all were out of the common ammo. Some 30-06 and some shotgun stuff left. Had the same right to limit sales sign. I think we are bringing alot of this on ourselves with all of the shooters that are panic buying and hording.
