Need help with a holster. I had these rigs made by inmates in the TDC for my Gold Cup and Combat Commander. Excellent work and EXTREMELY affordable. I sent a request to the last maker asking if I could have a holster built for a 2" model 66. Ultimately I found out that they no longer make holsters for revolvers. Can anyone recommend a maker that can build a holster for my 66 that matches the tooling on the black rig?

Pure green with envy there dude!

Back in the old days, when I worked on a road gang, our "dog boy" trustee made holsters and belts for the officers. Leather and/or snake skin.

It was unofficial, off the record, and as the modern times rolled in, it became illegal unless it was sanctioned by the state.

I remember when the Regional Director came through on an inspection and found the holster material and the tip-jar for the convict, at the dog kennels. That put an end to all that.

Those guys in Huntsville are amazing. It's a shame they didn't put forth the effort on the "outside" to be this productive. The brown rig I had made about 10 yrs ago. Belt, holster, mag pouch, cuff case, buckle, keepers, all made in house. Cost me about $200 if I remember correctly. URIT, I'll reach out to Lobo, thanks.

You might contact El Paso Saddlery. I priced a complete rig from a convict at the Polunsky Unit. He gave me a contract to sign and instructions where to deposit his money. I decided I would rather support an honest person working to support his family. I never commissioned the rig. I threw the contract away. I never went back.

I work 26 yrs in WIS DOC....inmates would make belts , cuff cases , change oil in ur cars , and a hair cut for .50 cents....times have changed!!!

While I am not an apologist for the criminally feral, I do applaud any of the inmates who are at least trying to improve themselves. We had to stop using inmate workers during covid, but some of the ones we had really tried to do a good job.

If that's a stock pattern, available from Tandy or some other source, practically any leather maker could do it for you. It might be like a needle in a haystack, finding it. Otherwise, someone should be able to replicate it if they had it in hand.

Maybe a local gun shop could point you at a leather crafter close to you.
