Heard on the radio earlier that one of the networks scheduled to air an NFL game would be dubbing in stadium noises for us folks at home while the game is played.

What could possibly go wrong?

A football game without fans takes away home field advantage in places like K.C.

Wonder if tailgating in the parking lot will be allowed?

I've been watching a few baseball games from the Korean Baseball League on ESPN. The stands are empty but the seats all have cardboard cutouts in them! One stadium even has all of the cutouts wearing masks.

If you look hard enough you can find Elvis - and Waldo...

If the games come back with no fans I'll watch about as much as I used to. I watch the games for the pleasure of the game not the spectators in the stands. I couldn't care less whether there are people in the stands or not.

Those folks have way too much free time on their hands.

Fans are just for atmosphere and to support the illusion of a team connection to the city where they play half of their games. Perhaps acknowledgement of this will be the CGI fans at the upcoming games. As stated, all the money comes from TV rights. Bread and circuses.

I suspect that last weekend may have been the last straw for the sports franchises and the broadcasters. One of the major channels had nothing on but paid programs, they weren't even showing a rerun of a previous event. I'll watch sports without a crowd via TV, there's no danger of getting covered in someone else's beer.

The Germans call them “ghost games”.

German pro soccer, for German sports fans football, baseball, and basketball wrapped in one, will resume the rest of its season presumably next week after a 2-month interruption, in empty stadiums.

Financially, it apparently pays. An article I just read the other day said that only about 8.5% of revenue for the teams comes from live spectators. I would not expect things to be dramatically different in pro sports here.

So I guess all you cable and satellite subscribers will be seeing a discount on your next few bills.

HAH!! Oh no,I think I just had an accident.:(

The TV deals are expiring in the next couple of years, so they are negotiating them right now. They are gonna play the games and have them on TV, fans or not.
