Wife took the NRA safety course applied for and got her carry permit. She likes my shield with the CT green laser and decided it was hers. Have been looking around for another compact 9 for cc, checking all brands. one store told me the shield was a much better gun than the Sig 290RS or the Glock 43, another store said they have much better feedback with the shield than the Walther PPQ,at the last store I talked to a gentleman around my age [66] and he said he owns 17 different compact 9s and the shield is his favorite to shoot. I was looking at the Walther PPS M2 and he said it was a really nice gun but the shield shoots softer. He is a Glock guy and prefers the shield over the 43, said he loves to shoot the 42 and was real excited when the 43 came out and ended up very disappointed. Guess that I made the right decision when I bought the 1st Shield, probably getting another one for me now.

PPS will probably be my next purchase. Unfortunately it won't happen soon due to my water heater blowing out yesterday to the tune of $975.00.

:(

A guy could do a whole lot worse than having a couple Shields around the house. I sure like mine.

Bob O. - Ouch, I know that feeling, He said the PPS was a really good gun but it was thinner and since he and I are both older the gun would twist easier in your hand. I have had a bone removed from the base of each thumb due to arthritis [retired machine repairman] and the soft shooting Shield fits the bill for me. When my water heater went I thought of going green and getting a tankless heater. After finding out the cost [more than double] and the increased maint. I went with the good ole gas heater. Good Luck

I'm guessing you have the 9MM? Have you shot the M&P 9mmC?
maybe give that a look too, also a great gun to shoot.

G43 is nice, but I too was disappointed. Grip is just way too small for an average adult male. I tend to think that Glock intended the 43 to be for women, and made it w/ a small grip accordingly. Loved my PPS but could not stand the "disconnector" backstrap feature. Too easily lost or damaged, IMHO. And no, I do not condone tape or sleeves on the grips of pistols. New PPS M2 very nice but for; Grip too thin, trigger too wide and NO spare magazines anywhere, and no idea when they will get here, if at all(Walther). Kahr? Not too bad other then terrible trigger and mag drop out issues. QC is iffy, pistol to pistol, too.
Sleeper is the Taurus PT111 G2. Nice pistol, well engineered and designed and the QC in the newest ones is pretty good. But I don't trust Taurus pistols with my life, sorry. Seen too many problems w/ Taurus in general to do so.
End result is back to a Shield after about 2 years w/o one. I had forgotten how nice they were to shoot and use. And S&W QC on these little rockets has gotten really good. Easy to carry, period. I am happy I got a new one and I won't stray again.
