Problem with M&P Magazine

Hey Folks-

Just sent a note to the good people at S&W but I wondered if anyone else had had this issue before.

One of the followers in my 10 round CA compliant magazine keeps hanging up within the magazine. It seems like the follower catches on one of the debris/witness holes and prevents the follower from advancing the next round. End result of this being an FTF/FTE.

Picture shows the issue.

As I mentioned I didn't want t try and mod the follower and possible risk either destroying it OR possibly voiding the warranty.

I checked one of my mags. It looks like some type of plastic "burr" on the follower. Going to S&W makes sense as it may bee a defect. Is the pi stol new or just new to you?

I'd call S&W after the holiday break and see if they'll just send you another follower. You could also switch out the guts with your other mag just to confirm that it is the follower and not the tube causing the problem.

That "debris/witness hole" is the mag catch slot for holding the mag in place. This is all very easy. Pull the butt plate and remove the spring and follower. Push the button in, on the bottom of the butt plate, and slide the plate off. As you slide the butt plate off the spring will fly out unless you keep your hand over the opening. If you find a burr in the mag tube (housing) take a small file and remove. Check the follower and if there is a burr on it, file or sand it off. Clean all and reinstall, do not oil. Should work fine .
