Professional Appraisal Service needed

I am thinking about buying a Colt Black Army from someone whom I have had good experience dealing with in the past. Neither of us are experts when it comes to this particular model. Is there a professional, impartial service out there that can do the appraisal for us?

Check with the American Society of Appraisers, the leading professional organization of fine arts and personal property appraisers. I don't have the website address handy, but it should come up in a search for ASA (or spelled out). The national HQ can give you a list of designated members, make sure to ask for those specializing in antique firearms. I am a commercial real estate appraiser, and have had good experience in referring clients needing fine arts appraisals to the ASA.
