Hi all,

Don't know if this has been done before or if it's not encouraged even. Anyway- I thought it might be cool to show your support for your local shooting range by giving them a mention / review.

I know some of you shoot on your own property; I have property owned by my inlaws I can shoot on- but it's a 70 mile round trip and my '98 Explorer sure burns gas! I come out ahead going to my local range and paying their rates.

I shoot at BannerShootingRange-http://www.iowadnr.gov/Portals/idnr/uploads/shootingsports/bannerbrochure.pdf It's 10 minutes away from where I live in Des Moines IA. it's run and staffed by the DNR. They have 100- 25 yard shooting available, as well as clay pigeon lanes. The staff are very welcoming, while expecting safety and cooperation. I regularly take my 8 and 12 year old boys along to shoot and they are always made very welcome.

So where do you go?

In Arkansas I belong to the River Valley Gun Club and it's an outdoor range that has a rifle range, pistol range, and skeet range and it's well run range with a great group of members. We have the combination that allows access between 8 AM and Dark and we have well defined set of range rules that makes the first guy on the scene the range manager and he gets replaced by the the 2nd guy when he leaves. We provide targets, concealed carry classes, Concealed carry requalification, ETC. and it's a joy to be a member.

DR&PC
DeSoto Rifle & Pistol Club -
We offer 2-25yd pistol/rimfire bays, 1-50yd pistol or rifle, GP rifle 25-200yds, & a 600yd rifle that will be extended out to a 1,000yds in the near future. Also started this week on sporting clay set-up. Open 365 days a year w/full access dawn to dusk.

I go to H&H Shooting Sports here in OKC. Great place, great
people! I took my CCW class there. Indoor ranges for handguns,
long guns & bows. Usually no problem getting a lane & their
rental list is pretty extensive. No rules about bringing your own
ammo, as long as it qualifies. No time limits, an in-house cafe,
& very reasonable rates.

This is the outdoor range I use. There's a "club" I keep thinking I'll join that's closer, but I keep putting it off for some reason. There are a couple of indoor ranges in town, too. The new one seems to be pretty nice. The older one is full of snooty, "If you didn't buy it from us, it's ****" types that I refuse to deal with anymore. ;)

I belong to 4 different ranges. The closest one, about 10 minutes from my house, is a private outdoor range that is a Key Club. Every member has a key and comes and goes whenever. It's a 6 position range with target stands at 100 yards, 25 yards and 10 yards. It's where I go to try out loads and chronograph.
The 2nd range is my Bullseye club That I was Sec/Treas for for 30 years until just a year ago. It meets only on Tues evening for about 2 hours during the school year, (yes, it is located inside a school). It is the High School rifle team range and our adult club uses it for a bullseye league. It has 20 firing points for .22RF only, with trolly wire returning targets (and a good ventilation system) and has been in continual use since 1932.
My outdoor range is the Pike Adams Sportsman's Assoc. range near Barry,IL which has been the site om many USPSA National Championships, as well as World Championships. The site of the 1911 Single Stack match, and the Home of the Masters International Shooting Shooting Championship. We have about 15 action shooting ranges, a Precision Biathlon target range (25 and 50 meter), 200 meter general purpose range, originally the IHMSA Silhouette range, and a 600 yard High Power rifle range (with pits). There is very little you may ever want to shoot that can not be accomplished on this range. I've been a member since day one of this range and helped to build it.
The 4th range is a trap & skeet range which is about 20 minutes from my house, and I shoot there usually at least once a week and participate in the summer trap league and winter skeet league.

I think I'm fairly lucky to have access to all these facilities.

I have been shooting at the Texas City Municipal Shooting Range for over 40 years. Texas City Municipal Shooting Range

The Range Master is a great guy and the staff of range officers do a great job of keeping things safe for everyone. I much prefer shooting outdoors and other than private property this is my very favorite place to shoot. They have rifle, Pistol, black powder ranges as well as a first rate trap and skeet range.

I guess my favorite feature is that senior citizens (55 & over) shoot for 50 bux per year. As much as I shoot that is a whopping good deal for me.

If my trigger finger get to itchin' too bad on a rainy or too cold day I have an indoor range that I have also been shooting at for over 40 years. It is the Marksman Shooting Range in South Houston.

The staff here is great. I've known the owners and most of the staff for years and years. It is a well ventilated indoor facility and a fine place to shoot if you can't get outdoors.

For indoor we have a few here in Gwinnett county in Ga but my favorite is Dead Center. Its pretty clean and the AC isnt blasting away like most of them. The prices are decent and ladies are free on mondays :D

Dead Center Indoor Shooting Range

For outdoor we head on out to the boonies... Advance Bullets in Temple, Ga. Very redneckish, very muddy, but it gets the job done. In the shooting area instead of rocks or mud they have left over shell casings as their flooring LOL Note: Do not wear cute new boots to this range.

Peacemakers National Training Center: a new facility with much to offer - including a 1,000 yrd rifle range. Unfortunately, no indoor-type facilities. http://peacemakernational.com

Golden Seal Enterprises is a Private Security Contractor and Training institute. They also have a new covered range for indoor, pistol shooting during inclimate weather and winter cold. Billed as a firearms training academy (for local gov't permitting purposes) the new shooting range is generally member only. Golden Seal Enterprises - Firearms Training Academy
