Didn't even know this existed until this weekend. A couple of companies make half-gallon containers of pre-mixed gas and oil for your 2 cycle engines. It's the 50:1 ratio, is ethanol free, and 92 octane. Seems to be a good deal for a small job that doesn't need much fuel. My son has a small tree that needs to be taken down and I didn't want to have to buy a gallon of gas plus the mix for such a small job. I think it costs about $6.00. Now if can just get that old Stihl started...

Agree-pricey but given the use it makes a lot more sense than mixing up a gallon using half a tank full and then letting the rest spoil. As cheap as I am, I use it:eek:

Heck when I have 2 cycle gas mix left over at the end of chainsaw use time I just put what is left in the 4 wheeler. I also use ethanol free in both anyway. Never have a problem. I also run the chainsaws empty . I mixed up some gas today to do a small job..filled the tank on the saw and it started 2nd pull. Yep Stihl. Will finish the 2nd dead tree tomorrow Lombardy Poplars do not live long. I have another 10 to cut this winter.

I think it was a quart rather than a half-gallon but I poured part of it in the tank of that old Stihl and after about 4 pulls it started right up. I don't think it's been used in a couple of years so it was a pleasant surprise. That old Stihl is about 30 years old but it's still in pretty good shape. I just hope it isn't in the 90's this weekend like predicted. My son has never used a chainsaw before so it's time to teach him a few things and let him try it himself. Safety first!

GOOD IDEA BUT EXPENSIVE.

After switching to ethanol free, I'm amazed how easy my 24" husky starts up even after sitting unused for LONG periods. I never thought I'd be able to pull start anything ever again, & still throw worse than a real bad girl, no offense ladies but I used the be the rock chucking star, as a kid. :(

The pre mix stuff is all I will ever consider using again. The ethanol ruined the innards of my string trimmer and pole trimmer. There is a product called Mechanic in a Bottle that will work wonders on the engines that are harder than usual to start. Removing the spark arrester screen from any 2 cycle engine is the best thing you can ever do.

I just figure out the mix down to 16 ozs. That way I don't have a gallon sitting around for an extended amount of time. I also use non-ethanol fuel 89 octane.
Had a friend using the can of pre mix in a Stihl saw a couple years old and wouldn't start. Took it to a repair shop and the cylinder was all scored up. Not worth fixing. He was paying approx. $8.00 a Qt. He is going back to mixing his own with the new saw.

There are a couple of out of the way gas stations that sell ethanol free gas in this area. I'm going to get some of that to use in my 2 cycles next time I need to fuel up, if I can find them. They seem to come and go pretty fast.
