Hey, guess what, you guys own AR15s.
They may be Smith and Wesson marked, but they're every bit the same as anyone else's AR.
Get this Training Manual!
It'll answer questions!
It'll clear up complections! (well at least conundrums).
It'll make you a Wizard!
You want spex?
You want Touque?
You want to be the know it all on your block?

After 40+ years of shooting and hunting and finally buying a sport I have to say the AR based rifles are among the easiest and simplest to maintain there is.

I was told by someone that Bushmaster Assembles all Smith AR-15 but dont have any facts to back it up.

My LGS said S&W used to get their uppers and lowers from Stag. But I saw a segment of Shooting USA last year where they toured the S&W M&P production line and showed that everything was done in-house.

Thats who it was when they first started out, but they were selling enough that they brought everything in house, for better quality control and probably better profit margin! And from what I understand it has been in house for 3 years or so.

CMT used to build the M&P. Their subsidiary is STAG arms. S&W now forges their own lowers, the uppers are sourced from a number of sources ( my original Sport upper is marked Anchor Harvey Forge) Thompson Center provides the barrels. Rumor has it Lewis Machine and Tool provides the Bolt/Bolt Carrier group. As for the lower parts its still a mystery.....

Mystery indeed.
neither LMT or S&W cared to comment. Was a bummer.
Though LMT s standard bcg looks and is described the same as the M&P bcg
