I went and pulled the trigger, so to speak, on a LCP .380 acp for pocket carry. I’ve been carrying a 642 for pocket carry and wasn’t satisfied with the concealability due to the cylinder width. The S&W .380 just had too many problems out of the gate, but then so did the LCP. Plus, I didn’t want a CT on a bug. Since the LCP has been in production for a few years, the problems have been resolved (fingers crossed). This semi auto has met my expectations.

Let me know what you think of it; I've got a 642 in my pocket as I type this. I too, have been wanting an LCP, but the .380 ammo is just as expensive as 9mm, and until lately, been hard to get. I was all set to put one on layaway last week, and my car decided it was time to get sick on me, so I'm all about car repair this week. I have decided, however, that it's the best .380 for me out there, based on features and price, and carryability. The 642 carries good for me year round, but I think that flat, small semi auto will do even better in cargo shorts, and not pull on them too much.

I've had an LCP for a few months. I don't really like shooting it but I do like carrying it! Maybe my shooting will get better with practice!

I like it with a Nemesis pocket holster. Almost disappears in the front pocket. I added a Pachmayr Tactical Grip Glove and it softens the impact quite a bit, plus the finger extension helps. Pachmayr Tactical Grip Glove Ruger LCP, Taurus TCP, Kel-Tec P3AT

I bought several boxes of cheap ammo at USA Ammo (was approx. $10.50/50 rd box, now $10.95) and it works great for range ammo.

For SD, I settled on Hornady Critical Defense.

i carry the keltec .380... it fits well in any pocket for concealment....but.....it has a trigger pull slightly harder than lifting weights......it is not very accurate because of the pull but for defensive shooting its fine. I prefer my model 36 on an ankle rig when I wear appropriate pants.....i like my wife's 638 and it conceals well in most pants pockets. I just dont trust the keltec although its only misfired twice in about 1000 rounds. the 636 and model 36....never

That's funny:D I was suprised by the trigger pull length and effort to fire the LCP. It takes some getting used to. After firing the 642, anything is do-able.

I've had an LCP for nearly two years now. It went back for the recall. It shot fine before then and still shoots fine after return. I only have about 500-600 rounds through it, and all with no hiccups. My trigger pull is about 5-6 lbs, but a little on the long side, but that is expected with no manual safety. Accuracy wise, it will keep all rounds within 2-3" at 10 yards, or about inside my coffee mug top. I am very happy with mine and with Hornady Critical Defense ammo, I feel reasonably protected. (Iwould feel better with a 45, but just a little too heavy.

I too gave up my J-frame for CCW, and now carry a LCP for a little over a year. I have never looked back. Yes I miss the firepower of +P ammo in the 38, but here in South Florida, we are in shorts and T-shirts almost 365 days a year. I'm a long DA trigger pull guy anyway, always have been, so it was a perfect match for me. Not much larger than my cell phone either. I think your avatar needs to call Dr. Drew ASAP.

I've owned one for over a year now. Overall I'm still very pleased. I find it very accurate for it's intended purpose and easy to shoot. I have yet to have any issues with it.

It doesn't get much use, but it's nice to have it around.

I waited a couple years after the lcp came out before buying one hoping everything had been worked out. At about 500 rounds I had to send it back for several issues. They replaced a few parts and I'm at approximately 400 rounds through the new set-up with no problems.

Given that I have somewhat longish fingers and a largish hand I figured I'd have all kinds of problems shooting this little gun. As it turned out, with the ruger factory finger extension on the mag I can shoot this thing all day long without problems, and quite accurately at that. For whatever reason, the recoil on this gun just doesn't bother me that much.

I would prefer the slide to lock back on the last round like the rest of my semi's, but to be honest it has just not been an issue. This has quickly become one of my favorite guns and even though it is not a range gun, it gets shot just about every range session, partly because it's always in my pocket, and partly because I actually like shooting it.

I started out with a nemesis holster as it was cheap. I then went through 2-3 more expensive holsters and ended up back with the nemesis because it just works. The material is thin yet durable, and there is not a lot of excess material like some of the lcp holsters have. It just never made much sense to me to have such a small thin pocket gun and then wrap it in a bunch of thick leather with all kinds of 'anti-print' panels, rivets and such on them.

The flatness of this gun makes all the difference in the world in terms of pocket carry for me. My 340pd and 642 have not seen the inside of my pockets since the lcp came on the scene.

Great post, Wayne. I too have large hands and longish fingers, and shooting this elsiepea takes practice. I like the way it disappears in the pocket with an expensive Nemesis, so no need to spend the extra bucks on anything else.

In all fairness, had the S&W Bodyguard380 been available without the laser sights, I would have pounced on it, since most of my other handguns are S&W.

I had one, liked it but traded it. I want to get another one or a P3AT (I've had good service with Kel-Tecs before, got a PF9 that is my current pocket gun).

I got an LCP recently and love it. I prefer the 642, but it's just a little too big for pocket carry. The LCP is great, it disappears and I was surprised by how accurate it is.

You might want to consider the Sig P238. I use it as a BUG and my daughter uses hers as a primary.

By the way, as to ammo... seriously consider staying with ball or flat-tip. The .380 simply does not have the power to drive through clothing, jackets, etc. and to penetrate to kill or disable while "flowering" an HP. I prefer flat tip ammo and it works well, flattening considerably more than ball. My daughter has been taught to walk with her hand in her purse and to simply fire through the purse in an attack situation. Were she to shoot HP, the results would be unsatisfactory by the time the bullet made it through clothing to flesh.

Just my two cents.;)

My LCP, just over a year old, has been 100% reliable. Locally .380 ammo is the same price as .40 S&W!! (Wal*Mart, Gander, Academy Sports-lowest price farthest away.)

Fiocci 95 gr. Ball has a tendency to eject the cases almost straight up and back down on my head. WWWB 100 rd packs do not. Remington 88 gr HP works fine too. I've seen net wisdom that Fiocci HP is too long and has feeding problems in the LCP.

Who likes the little LCP.

My LCP is back at Ruger.....for the THIRD time! And it hung up on Hornady Critical Defense, sheared off three (3) take down pins and threw a take down pin spring. Hope they get this thing right. I love the gun but wondering if I can trust my life to it. Just before it went back last week, the take down pin spring broke and the slide blew off the top of the gun! I came home and hugged my 642 and G26!
