In 1965-66, my father was in Germany and purchased a Puma knife. It has been stored in a safe since, first his now mine. It is still in the original wood box with the velvetine?? coating slightly degraded. Scabbard, booklet and all is like new. I'm not a knife collector and have no desire to sell it, just curious as to what it would be worth. Almost forgot, the blade length is 6.25 inches . I know that there are some big time serious experts out there that know exactly what this is. Appreciate your response, thanks.

On Gunbroker buyers have bid as high $255 for the apparent equivalent of your knife but the seller had the reserve even higher. That will give you a starting point. Good luck with your quest.

The Puma knives of that era were very well made indeed, from the ones I've seen. The ones of recent manufacture I've seen didn't impress me nearly as much.

Yours would command a good price, Master Chief, but you said you don't want to sell it. If it were mine and had been my dad's I would like to use it, but that's just my impractical, sentimental side.

Depends on who's buying it. Most people will pay a used knife price. But one guy has a Puma site and is writing a Puma book that will probably cause prices to rise on publication.

I think he asks over $400 on some versions, some of the difference being not just in age and condition but in boxes.
Some boxes were used in limited numbers and are rare. The plastic box with a clear lid is one example.

Has anyone seen all green plastic boxes? Mine are yellow with green lids.

Thanks Diamondtreo, best info ever. Found out the model number is 6384 made in Oct. 1966. Didn't have a photo on the site that looked exactly like what I have but the other info was cool. That is what I like about this forum, there is always someone out there that can help. Thanks
