I know this is the smith forum so let me start by saying all my revolvers are smith's and my ccw is an m&p340 that lives in a renegade ankle holster.
However, I dont have a high capacity 9mm, I sold my glock due to a dislike of the trigger and way it fit my hand. With the trends bieng what they are a high capacity 9mm is a very useful item to have and I cant help but notice the balistics on 9 plus p just keep getting closer to my 357mags. So currently I only have one big gun for ccw and its a TRR8 that fits in a sholder holster, this gun only comes out if im going somwhere unpleasant and its coat time. But I just shot the cz po1 and im thinking it might be a better choice.
A nice guy at the range had a p01 and we swaped mags for my walther pps. The cz p01 put every round rappid fire into the ten ring at 50ft and the recoil was nonexistent, this is such a big change from my scandium 357's. However my scandiums weigh 36oz,22oz and 13oz so it isnt a fare comparison. I can tell I would have a difinitive advantage using a 9mm in a real firefight. My concern is that I have a great 357 setup IE: reloading gear, thosands of cases and bullets, not to mention countless hours at the range. (In case your wondering I am that guy who puts 50-100 rounds thew my 340 every range sesion and yes I can get evething in the 8 ring during a speed drill, IE: 5 rounds then two reloads as fast as you can)
MY main concern is, If i start training with this new 9mm and its backup my wather pps, will my revolver training go to pieces. As it stands I try not to put to many rounds through my walther because it is so easy to shoot and it makes switching back to my j frame unfortunate. My groups go from bieng super at top speed to bieng ok at a reasnable pace,( I only fire my revolvers DA)
MY other question is slightly easer. Im having a real hard time locating a p-01 so is there any real disidvatage to the larger sp-01. kepping in mind I have already shot the p-01 and detemined from it's size I would probably only put it in a shoulder holster, maybe IWB.
Thanks in advance for your responses.
