One of my Night-Blooming Cereus plants is blooming tonight. They only bloom once. In the morning the bloom will whither away. Their aroma is extrordinary.

Fascinating plants and beautiful blooms. Strange how they always bloom around May 30 each year. Thanks for the picture! Too bad there isn't a scratch & sniff feature available online!

I have never seen one of those. Is it in the orchid family? Beautiful pic and bloom!

Quite an experience when on of them blooms. There are a few of those in my neighborhood. Climbing cactus are they not?

It's sort of cactus-like. It has large, thick leaves. Believe it or not, we've never fertilized this plant but it grows like crazy. It doesn't like full sun or cold weather. I bring it in during the winter.

All you have to do is stick a limb or leaf in the ground. It will root itself and start growing. This one is actually from parts of the original plant that my dogs have torn off.

Nice shot! These are hard to catch. My dad was a photography nut (like me), and quested after these particular blooms. One of our friends was the manager of the Phoenix Desert Botanical Gardens, and called him one afternoon that he thought the night bloomer was about to pop. Dad grabbed his Leica and took off right away, too. I went with him, and we did indeed get a good shot. I have no idea where that picture is today; it will probably turn up sometime after I'm dead and gone. Congrats on a good score, there!
