I have an opportunity to buy a Lew Horton model 29 but am ignorant about how a Lew Horton revolver differs from a standard 29. Is it grips and other cosmetic stuff or are there internal improvements that Lew Horton makes?

Hopefully some of you better informed guys can help me out here.

Thanks

Steve

A Lew Horton model - IMO - would be all external rather than internal changes; such as : barrel length, integral rib, flat sided barrel, frt. sight etc. S&W might offer him the use of the ball detent for lock-up but they[S&W] aren't going to revise the internals.

Lew Horton is a large firearms distributor. Due to their buying power they order guns from manufacturers like S&W and will have some kind of custom detail or details on the gun such as barrel lengths, finishes, fluted or unfluted cylinders, sights, engraving and etc. These special order guns are exclusive to the distributor and typically are only available through the distributor. Hope this helps.
