Greetings, I had a question about this revolver. I picked up a nice model 58 at a gunshow Saturday, it has a parkerized frame and a high polished blue cylinder. I just fell in love with the caliber years ago after shooting a friends Taurus Tracker. My question is I see where they made a model called the 357pd in 41 mag and it's supposed to be an updated version of that model albeit in light weight form. Numrich has a titanium cylinder for the 357pd for around 80$ and I'm wondering if these are compatable? I think it would be a great carry piece and the weight savings would be even better. I'll post a picture of the beauty when I get home this afternoon.

Im pretty sure the 357pd is a 5 shot built off of the L frame. Your model 58 is built off the N frame so know it wouldnt work. The model 57 & 58s are great guns.

The M357 is a six shot scandium N frame, I have one. I like the idea of the titanium cylinder in a parkerized M58, the colors would almost match and lighten the M58 by couple of ounces. I believe all M58s are going to have counter bored cylinders, while the M357 cylinder is not, but neither do later production M57's have counter bored cylinders. It may work, although it may cost $80 to find out. Bob!

The 357PD is a scandium framed model 57.

There are few gun smithing projects that can not be accomplished as long as you apply enough cash. The barrel might have to be set back one revolution so that you can re-cut a correct B/C gap with the shorter Titanium cylinder. You might also need to replace the crane to make this work.
