question for all you 38/200 collectors

Hello all: I'm new to the S&W forum. Just picked up a 38/200 lend lease with several brit proofs. Also, this revolver has a mark on the left frame, "POL.OLD.779". And on the back strap a mark of "POL.LUN.487". I was told these may be post war West German police markings. Anyone out there with an idea of what these marks are?
