I recently acquired a nice Model 67 with five inch barrel and magna grips in excellent condition. It is marked on the left side of the frame "Property of Yolo County Sheriff #170". I paid $400 for the pistol.

I know that Yolo County includes part of Sacramento. I would appreciate any information others might have about the county, type of sidearms used by the Yolo County Sheriff's office, etc.

Yolo Co. is just west of Sacramento. The county seat is Woodland.

How about posting a picture?

The Sacramento River separates the City of Sacramento from Yolo County and West Sacramento. Nice catch on the gun will try to get your info. Update Yolo went to Autos after the revolvers in the 80's. The County is mostly Agricultural.

5 inch barrel? I've never heard/seen a model 67 with anything other than a 4 inch barrel. Maybe a special order for the department.

5 inch M67

I have seen 5 inch 67's and 15's that had been standard issue for the Wisconsin State Police if I remember correctly. They were in a collection on display in Houston at a gun show.

I have always thought that the 5" barrel was more proportional to the K frame than the 4". I would be interested in acquiring one of these 5" 67's if anyone knows how to find one.

How can this be, there is no record of 5" 67s ever being made?
This is the first time I've ever heard of anyone ever even seeing one?
Are you sure we are talking about model 67s here?

5" M67's

I am absolutely certain that what I handled was a five inch barreled 67 and 15. There was also a five inch 14 which did not have the tapered barrel but did have a ramp front site. These were 5 inchers measured correctly from the face of the cylinder.

I remember them so distinctly because I have wnated one ever since. They are nicely balanced. That extra inch of tapered barrel just gives it an elegant look with the classic S&W profile.

Yolo County Model 67

My wife owns a Model 67 marked "Property Yolo County Sheriff #120."
It is a 4-inch and dates to 1975.
I bought the gun in Burney, CA in 1991.
I have never heard of 5-inch Model 67's but that doesn't mean that none exist! Wish I had a couple...
