A local maker of leather holsters states that holsters he makes and markets for the Springfield XD are also the same holster he recommends for M&P pistols. His packages are only marked for the Springfield pistols and do not state a subsequent use for M&Ps. Does anyone here know this to be correct and has anyone here bought a holster for their M&P that the package stated "for Springfield XD" (only) ? Thanks,John

It'll probably work, but sounds like a lower grade holster. The trigger guards are different. That is why BlackHawk Serpa's are stamped fro M&P 9,40,45. But you have to get a different one for Glock or XD

There are several differences in XD and M&P like trigger guard (sq vs round), XD is wider and has a large take down lever. So for me the one size fits many means generally you need a strap to hold the gun in or it may or may not stay in the holster.

My holsters are made for one gun and formed for that gun so a XD will not work in a M&P and vice versa.
