I have a couple questions on a 442-1 I recently picked up. First, could anyone tell me the year of manufacture? The serial number is CAH9xxx. Second, it has the new style trademark on the side, but has a forged trigger. I was thinking the only year they came with a forged trigger was 1996? Here are a couple pictures of it. Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the reply ladder13. So is that the correct cylinder latch and trademark (I guess that's what it's called) for that year?

I thought that marking was only put on the newer models.

The serial number, forged hammer, and old-style thumbpiece are correct for a revolver built in late 1995 or early 1996, but you're right to question the address stamping--the 2-line address wasn't used until 2002. The most likely explanation is that the original frame was somehow damaged, and S&W replaced it with a new frame bearing the old serial number.

mine is from the late 90's with the old style stamp. cool thing about mine is that the serial number starts with CCWXXXX
