For my M&P 15-22... Need suggestions for a scope that is good for 100 yards (4x magnified), quick release, under $100, and doesn't require me to remove iron sites.

Can I find a scope that meets "all" these requirements?

Would be nice if it had red dot, but the other things are a must.

The trouble is that the scope would have to be mounted quite high to avoid your open sights blocking your sight picture unless you have the fold flat type open sights? I can't remember the name but if you type "tactical scope" into eBay I saw a qd 3-9x40 scope with illuminated reticule, I'm sure I've seen a few people on here with them who can tell you how good they are, I think it was about 140 dollars though. Anyway good luck with your search

You are not going to find all that under $100.

Majorlk is right. Not for under $100 and have anything reasonably "good" enough.

The only reason I'd have a quick release is to quick dump the scope if something went wrong with it,so I could use my iron sights.. I've never found a good enough quick release that (anywhere close to cheap) gets ME happy enough remounting and have the same zero.

Leapers UTG 1 Max Strength Tactical 4-Hole Quick Detachable

I have these on two different scopes and the return-to-zero is spot on every time. There is also a six-screw version for the same price.

This or This. I have the 3-9x32 on my 15-22 and it works very well. Virtually no re-zero after detach/attach with the quick detach mounts.
You will ALSO need a 1" riser and a quick detach tall scope mount.

It fits, but you may need to re-zero iron sights if you mount the scope rearward. The riser can stay and be clear of the line of sight.

Top of the picture is the 15-22 with the 3-9x32; bottom is a 3-12x44 on a RRA LAR-15 AR1251.

Sorry, no red dot with it. You may not need it though.

I think he can. But, he would have to dump the iron sights, not that it would be a big deal. Afterall, the scope would be used 99.9% of the time. My advice comes with a big caveat. I am absolutely new to scopes. I strickly shot with iron sights while in the service and never thought about doing otherwise. A couple of months ago, I bought a 3-9x40 BSA Sweet 22 scope for about $50 with shipping. The rings and riser were another $30 or so. I've shot about 2,000 rounds with it and it is still working just fine. I've also gone out with others who have 4X scopes and theirs don't even come close in clarity to the BSA. One of the guys even brought out an expensive scope for his AR15 that looked fuzzy compared to mine. I can clearly see the bullet holes at 50 and 75 yards. At 100 yards I can as well, if I use a reactive (the ones that change colors) target.

The big question now, is Majorik going to spring another $90 for folding sights? :-)

If you could find a scout scope, long eye relief, that would solve most of your issues. The problem with the scouts is they are usually more than $100. The BSA Sweet .22 would fit all of your requirements but the eye relief will put the scope over the rear sight. They do make angle mount irons, but they are not really cheap. Might be time to compromise or raise the budget.

Some Mosin Nagant owners buy this scout scope for $60:

Amazon.com: Aim Sports 2-7X32 Dual III. Long Eye Relief Scope with Rings: Sports & Outdoors

BTW, Mosins have a huge amount of recoil. So, they should work fine with a .22. Though, it might look a bit odd mounting it far enough forward to take advantage of it's eye-relief. Has anyone mounted a scout scope on a 15-22?

I have never seen a scout scope mounted on a 15-22. I have to admit scouts always look odd to me because of the forward position. Not necessarily bad, just odd. I will suggest that if one were to mount a scout on a 15-22 it would be wise to use a one piece mount like the P.E.P.R. if you have to span the two rail sections from the receiver to the quad rail. It would certainly stabilize the scope more than separate rings. BTW, that inexpensive scout scope does look pretty good for the money. If I was trying to accomplish what the OP wanted, I would give it a try. It seems to meet all of his criteria.

Thanks for the detailed reply... I think this will work for me and I just need to decide on which one of the scopes you suggested.
Thanks again!!!

i have center point 4x16s on all my rimfires $74 out the door at wallyworld and mount them on a carry handle with a mount that fits the carry handle, you can use the front sight and the carry handle has the a2 sight built in so you can use opens or a scope without touching anything, total will be around $130 or less depending on scope
