Rack Target help?

Hey fellas...

A good friend of mine just bought a slice of land (15 acres) and he is dedicating a portion of that land to.. you guessed it... a firing range.

We were looking around on the internet for some steel plate targets, some rack plate targets, along with any other type of nicer targets to have some fun with.

We shoot anything from the .22 to the .223/5.56, 7mm, etc. Obviously all of those can't hit the same type of targets...

Have any ideas for some nice .22 rack plate resetting targets? Some other fun nice .22 target systems?

Would like to setup a couple of things to have some run and fun with... any help is greatly appreciated.

I say get this relatively in-expensive rimfire dueling tree from Action Target:

I own their "Evil Roy" portable target with a 40% IPSC torso target which is great but I do need the portability as it is a desert target. You'll find their centerfire plate rack. Pretty damn expensive. Think they're coming out with a cheaper rimfire one, though.
 
I've seen a couple rimfire rack plates for aroudn the $399 mark. I'm fine with that price range. I've seen some as expensive as $900-1000.. that's out of the price range lol
 
I didn't want to spend much so I stopped by a local steel supplier that I've done business with, and they let me take all the "drops" I wanted from their shear. This is soft, hot-rolled steel from 1/4" to 1/8" thick, and up to just over a foot square. The 15-22 will make a slight dent in the 3/16", and a pretty good one in the 1/8", but I have lots of it to burn. Most of them are hung from trees, but for several I drilled and tapped for short 1/4-20 screws near the bottom so I can stand them up like a picture frame and knock them down.
Now when we go to Walmart, instead of just ammo it's ammo and cheap white spray paint!
 
Coots: You don't say where you are located. If you are anywhere close to Las Vegas, I have a friend that is a budding welder. As an exercise he built a 'star' shaped holder-stand with 6 ea. 4" dia. falling plates attached on radiating arms. Everything is built from very high strength steel normally used for center fire targets. He has it for sale very reasonable. If you are interested PM me. ........... Big Cholla

Yep! That would be A.T.'s price. $1,000, before shipping for the centerfire one. They have a $200-300 difference between the centerfire dueling tree and the rimfire so hopefully when the rimfire rack comes out, it's much cheaper for the sake of everyone! If they get the dueling tree, have them use the promocode "nutnfancy15" for 15% off.
 
Another idea might be the small steel "walking targets". Just throw them on the ground and shoot them and watch them flip when hit.

I second that and check out the Nutnfancy Youtube page. He shows the targets in action so to speak. If you subscribe to his page and use his discount code you get a price break. Was 20% after SHOT but I do not know what it is currently. It will save you shipping anyway!
 
i made my own set of targets i work in the steel industry so it is easy for me to get shims and what not i got some 8x8 inch 3/8 inch shims i am getting ready to drill holes in them any day when i get a little down time i made the frame out of pvc piping so i can take it apart to transport to the range i also got these little hooks from sure site so i can hang clays as well i will send pics when it is all done
