What is the best way to raise the front sight on my 4 inch 22A? It shoots 2 ½ inches high at 15 yards. The rear sights are adjusted all the way down. It appears that the front sight is integrated with the barrel.

My 6 inch barrel shoots just fine.

Thanks.

For a non-permanent fix, try a dab of 10 minute epoxy. File to shape and point of impact, and color using a black permanent marker pen.

You could also consider filing down the rear sight blade to lower the point of impact.

Before doing any of these things, you might try different brands of ammunition to see if there is a difference.

Thank you John T for your thoughts. I have tried two types of Federal, two types of Winchester, one Remington and two CCI. All shoot high. I have also let two of the better shooters at the range try and have rested the pistol. Although each will vary in how high it shoots, all were still high.

I thought of trying the "As Seen On TV" May's super strength putty that is kneeded to mix. I don't know if it would stick as good as the epoxy that you suggested.

Thanks

I got a 22a for this last Christmas. It also shoots high even with the rear adjustable sight in the full down position. I called S&W, they sent a label for shipping and are looking at it right now.

On "The firing line" forum, a couple of other owners reported a similar problem. On at least one, S&W replaced the barrel and it now "shoots perfect".

If you're the original owner, you might try contacting them for a free fix.

When I get my gun back and try it out, I'll leave you another post to let you know how they did.
