Picked up a NIB 625 JM from my LGS on Tuesday. They had a sale going and feel I got it for a fair price.

Took her out to the range today with my dad to break her in and could not be happier! I didn't mind the ribbed trigger as much as I thought I would. Did give me a nasty blood blister though. Was not impressed with the brass bead sight. Will probably swap for a HIVIZ sight. Don't like the look of the smooth grips but ended up fitting my hand and shooting great. Best group of the day was shot 7 yards SA from bench rest. This thing is accurate!

I was not aware that you needed a moon clip tool to remove the rounds. I foolishly loaded all 5 factory moonclips then wanted to swap some live rounds out for snap caps. Got the live rounds out with a pair of pliers but bent up a moon clip in the process. Now I'm down to 4. Looked up a couple of different tools online and decided to make my own out of 1/2 copper pipe. Works great! Might look into the RIMZ Clips for the range so I don't have to mess with a tool.

Congrats Irishmatt on your new JM. I took mine out a few days ago for the first time to.

Congratulations on your new gun. Rimz are ridiculous. You can buy a hundred ranch moonclips for under 50$. Steel is the way to go. Check 4wheelguns.com - Moon Clips

Bob Perdue is a solid guy.

Figure out what device you want to use to strip shells out of clips. Mine looks like a nut driver. You don't need a tool to clip ammo into ranch clips in .45. Get a hundred moonclips and you're set forever....unless you keep bending them...

Congrats on the 625JM! I have one going on 6 years, been shooting it in IDPA for the last 2 successfully. Enjoy the gun, get a moonclip loader/ unloader & all will be good. Also recommend a moonclip checker. I got mine from Revolver supply Co- George is a stand up guy, with superb customer service.

I bought a new JM about a month ago, along with a 625 PC also. I reload and the first time I took them out with several loadings most were so-so but a few showed promise. I concentrated the good performers and made up fresh loads which I tried today. Result! I tried first groupings at 15 yards off a pistol rest, then on to 25 yards with the best of them. The best 25 yard 5 shot groups off the rest were in the 1-2" range, and with more practice and load development I'm expecting a bit better.

The brass bead sight isn't good for me indoors so I black mine out with a marker. Neither gun has much accuracy advantage over the other. Both seem to do best with jacketed bullets in 200 and 230 gr. and a cast 200 is showing promise. I may try some heavier cast.

On the first outing I tried some 200gr swaged Hornady .452". They had terrible accuracy and when I then shot some cast 200's after them both guns had the worst leading I've ever seen, all the way down the barrels. Today I shot some more of the 200gr cast along with some Speer 250gr swaged. No leading at all in either gun. The Hornady soft swaged work fine as plunkers in my 38's and .357's though.

I hear ya with the sore trigger finger.Last Saturday evening I had mine at the range and almost had a blister. Fixed that this week with a new smooth .400 wide trigger. Trigger is color case hardened but does not look bad-and oh so much more comfy.

Perhaps I'm not running with the pack, but I've had more trouble loading mood clips than unloading them. The loader/unloader tool I purchased has been a lifesaver. I purchased 100 metal moons from Ranch Products when they first appeared, so I won't be buying the plastic jobs.

Baseball aficionados say you can't have enough pitching, and the same goes for moon clips. If you mistakenly feel you have too many, simply buy another .45ACP revolver. Problem solved. Happy to help.
