My truck gun is a Stoeger Cougar 8045 (45ACP) and yesterday I was working up some loads at the top end of the charts. I prefer the Cougar over the 1911 as the rotating barrel really absorbs recoil much better. Took it to the range this morning for some load tests, see below. I always forget how nice it is to shoot this pistol with hot hand loads. The Stoeger version is the Turkish made Beretta Cougar using all the Beretta machinery. This is my 4th 8045, the first three were bought out of my hands by friends when they shot them. Great pistol. Both 10 round targets shot at 50 feet.

Noticeable change in POI between those loads, but not enough to worry about IMHO.

Yes, rotating barrel semis have a recoil impulse that is very different to the Browning/Sig tilting barrel pistols. I scratched that itch with a Grand Power K100 Mk7.

I would snag one of those Stoegers at the right price. ;)

I have two Beretta PX4’s. One each in 9mm and 45. PX4’s are essentially the evolution of the Cougars. They are my favorite autos. I’d have a Cougar too, if I could find one.

By the way, good shooting.

Thanks for the shooting comment, just an olde bullseye shooter. I had a PX4 full size in my collection but found the very slight increase in the thickness of the grip just that little bit too much for my smaller hand. If I remember it's 1.25" vs 1.4x" and it was surprising at how much that little difference mattered to me. Shooting wise, the guns were identical. I just wish there were more rotating barrel pistols around to try.
