I went to the range this afternoon with my M&P15-22 and my Sig 522 to see what they could do at 100 yards. My Sig came without sights so I mounted a scope on it, my M&P has iron sights. My last range seesion the M&P was experiencing mag snag with a couple of magazines so I sent them to S&W and they replaced them with the Gen II mags which worked flawlessly by the way. The Sig has a great trigger out of the box. My M&P had a heavier trigger but after a few range sessions it lightened up considreably and is now just as nice as the Sigs. As you can see from the photos the Sig shot slightly tighter groups which was no doubt because of the optic. My M&P using iron sights wasn't much bigger, I'll have to throw a scope on it one day to see what it will do. I'm sure the groups would be substantially tighter. I shot 650 of Federal 550 Bulk this afternoon and both rifles love this stuff. It's nice owning both rifles but if I had to choose one it would be the M&P. I like the controls better and it is lighter giving it an edge IMO.
