I have an older lube-a-matic and like it better than the lyman 450 I also have. The thing that I prefer is the way the linkage and handle is set up. On the rcbs the handle is straight up and pulled down to around 90 degerees. On the 450 the handle is curved and starts out almost behind the sizer and then almost 180 in front of it. I also think the linkage on the rcbs is a little more stout.

I got both of mine used and fairly cheap. I only cast for pistols and leave one setup for .38 and the other for .45. If I were to buy new I would spend the extra money and get a star. They look much nicer and faster to use. By the time you bought a Lube-a-Matic II a sizer and top punch you would not be that far away from basic star money.

A star sizer is next on my list of reloading stuff to purchase. But I will keep the rcbs around for the other calibers I cast for and don't shoot much.

Yep, I have one. Would not trade it for the world. I generally cast 500-700 bullets at time and run them thru the sizer and it don't miss a beat. My arm gets a little tired but thas all. I use the lube rom the feller in Idaho, retired Coastie and in the cooler weather I have to use heat. Summer heat, it is soft enuf to just crank them out.

I believe there shud be a a way to automate this rig but I have not found it..

All in all, a great piece of equipment so go for it.

i have an old rcbs ,an lyman 4500 and an old saeco wich is the best of 3
sorry here no star who seems the roll-royce of the sizer

Thanks guys, I seem to remember reading that the Saeco wasn't as good as the RCBS?

I use the RCBS and really like it. I was using a used Lyman 45 which I also liked but the RCBS is more sturdy. The only thing I wish RCBS would have done was put on a ratchet bolt like the Lymans.

There was a recent thread over at CastBoolits about adapting a 1/2 inch socket so it would fit onto the RCBS and would then be used with a 1/4 inch socket wrench.

I use an older RCBS LAM-II, & like it a lot. I'd suggest you shell out for a new - as opposed to a used set of dies.

I keep mine loaded w/ LBT Soft Blue.
