RCBS Pro-2000 vs. Dillon XL650

Hi all,
Spring cleaning of my basement is in a full swing! Nine different reloading presses that were collecting dust in the corner are going up for sale. And this fact makes me feel kind of off balance. Almost like losing a pet dog or something. That said, I'm gonna get me a new press and need some feedback from you. I'd like to get one of two stated in the title of this post. I'm particularly interested in "primer feed" operation and dependability on both as well as powder measure drop uniformity. I sure like that APV (or is it APS?) primer strip idea by RCBS but still would like to hear from you first. Thank you.

I would vote for the Dillon XL650 since I have one and it is "marvelous". When are the presses going on sale and where?

Even though its not cheap....I dont know how one for any amount of money can best Dillons equipment. I have a 550B and no amount of $$ can buy it from me. When I get tired of reloading I'll just grease it down and pack it away. Same goes for my RCBS single stage equipment.
 
I have the XL650. I too have been "press rich" but not near as much as you! :)

At any rate, I am shifting all of my caliber changes to it. That is from the Square Deal B and the single stages of life!

Kenny do you actually own and use Pro-2000? If so, how do you like the primer strip feed idea? Boy, you guys sure like that Dillon stuff alot...don't you?!

BTW,
I think that I have a few OEM S&W Mod.59, 9mm magazines somewhere in my cave. If found, maybe this would be a good place to sell them...what do you think?
 
I live about a hour drive from Oriville CA home of RCBS I load with a Dillion started and still have a RCBS Rockchucker but the Dillion gets the most use
 
We have 4 Dillon's and one rock crusher. Two 550's that have been service since 1981- one 650 -10 years and one 1000 mdl. the 1000 is out of production but still works great. The Rock Crusher is used to full length size 7mm mag etc. Dillon's work
 
I've had the RCBS Pro-2000 for about 3 years and I like it alot.
I went with the Pro-2000 because I liked the APS priming system.
I can load a APS priming strip in 30 seconds or so.
I load for .44 Mag/SPL. .45 ACP, .45LC, .41 Mag & .357/.38.
I can change calibers in 5 mins or so.
Powder measure works great and very accurate.
I like the press alot.
That said every one seems to really like the Dillons too.

I have loaded over a quarter million rounds on my pro2000 and like it a lot. What sold me was the APS strips which cannot detonate like a tube of primers can. To me it was a safety issue.

The 650 is a good press. I can't fault it but I can say that if you load a lot of calibers, due a fully cycle economics costs. When you total up all of the costs to do the different calibers, I found the Pro2000 to be cheaper for the 30 odd calibers I load on it.

So to me the Pro2000 was cheaper and safer.

No complaints so far on the my press. I will load another 1000 38 supers today on it.
