I will be the first to admit that I have wasted some money on cheap knock off accessories. Trying to save a buck here and there has cost me some money. Live and learn and I do learn from life's lessons. When I saw on the Bay that there were "grip pods" with a 300# weight capacity, I thought to myself, why would I want to spend around $90 for one when I could get one for $24.99. So I bought one. I took it out to shoot and it was absolutely horrible. couldnt get it to hold the weapon still enough to take a shot, wobbled and wriggled all over the place. I tried tightening up the screw on bottom section of the handle but to no avail, so I got rid of it. I actually gave it away.
Yesterday I got a genuine GI "G.P.S. GripPod", the difference is like night and day. Solid, sturdy and holds the rifle as steady as my other mechanical bipod. So anyway I thought I would share this with the forum, so that maybe someone will learn from my mistake. Pics are below. plus it looks great with my AB Arms forward hand guard.:D:D

You needn't have to spend $90 or more for a half way decent bipod.......I found this one, and it's been great for me, and every bit worthy of the five star reviews it got on Optics Planet -

Leapers UTG Tactical OP Bipod w/ Picatinny and Swivel Stud Mount FREE S&H TL-BP78, TL-BP88. Leapers UTG Shooting Accessories, Leapers UTG Bipods, Leapers Shooting Accessories, Leapers Bipods.
And you could even get it cheaper at other places that don't pay for shipping like OP.com :)

I had a caldwell bipod on it that I love, still have the option to put it back on. It just added a lot of weight to the weapon and made quick off hand shots difficult. But I am looking at a bipod very similar to that and when I find out the price I may get it. I still think that style will be more solid but this GripPod is very solid and does make quick shoulder shots easier. I was just trying to make a point how the real grippod is so much different than the cheap copies.

Years ago, I bought a Grip POD knockoff before I knew there was a real grip pod or that knock offs were being made. Since then, I too have bought a real Grip POD.

That being said, they work equally well for me....and in fact, I used the knock off when I shot a DG in my practicle rifle course last year. That knock off survived two of those courses. It would seem that not all knock offs are built the same. ;)
