I checked the FAQs and did a google search and found all I want to know about swapping a rear sight blade but nothing about installing an entire rear sight assembly.Mine was missing because of a scope mount. I got a proper complete assembly replacement and now need to get it boltd on. It looks like the small square nut on the bottom slides under the T cut into the frame and the leaf is pressed flat to allow the tiny screw to be threaded into the hole on the top strap. Sounds pretty simple I guess but damn the leaf is stiff and will be under a bunch if tension for just 1 tiny screw to hold in place. Am I missing something? What sort of screwdriver do I need to tighten the screw. Is it special other than tiny? how tight? anything else?

Yes, they are tight. The forward sight assembly sight screw is small, and holds considerable tension. Just find a screwdriver that is exactly the same width, and as close to the same thickness as the screw slot and snug it down. Careful not to overtighten and bugger the screwhead. If you have your elevation screw set high, it takes a little tension off the forward end, and may make it easier. My 2 cents worth.

thank you Sir. does the little screw on the forward end of the leaf get any loctite or just snug it down?

I NEVER put locktite on any S&W revolver screw. Snug is enough. I have had the misfortune, years ago, to need to extract a screw with the head damaged, and, it was a forward sight assembly screw. What a mess.........
