I have run across a few photos of smith and wesson rear sight grooves on fixed sight models.
For instance a really nice aiming photo done with a model 22-4.
Is there enough meat in the frame in that spot on ANY of the fixed sight grooves/troughs to machine the rear face so its more like a novak rear sight for 1911?
I ask because the rear sight on the novak is easier to figure out for me then the j frames i have handled in gun stores.
my brain seems to use the shiny surface of the j frame groove as the actual aiming point.. actualy that happend when i tried a neighbors SAA years ago.
