Rebore pitted 38 to 44?

Just a thought....thinking about converting a 38/44 to 44 special. The bore is somewhat pitted on the HD, would a rebore remove the pitting assuming the pits are shallow?
I thought of doing a 45 Colt conversion but 44 spec seems more intrigueing, as I do not have a 44 currently.
Thoughts on this?

You might consider a barrel insert as a solution if you want to keep it as a .38. Otherwise, there's been a lot of HD's converted to .44 in the past. Just a matter of money.
