Recent experience with yellow driving glasses (LONG) Pic added

Daniel Stern has long been a vocal critic of headlight standards in the US. I bought a pair of Cibie Z-beams from him for my '96 Firebirds. Wattage read the same as the DoT spec lights, but the beam patterns high and low were so superior it wasn't funny.

I'm going to start another thread on the causes of headlight glare based on stuff I saw over the last couple of weeks.

Looking forward to it. I detest the new headlights. Too bright, too much glare, not aimed or focused properly. U.S. headlight regulations suck.

No diagnosed cataracts yet. I do wear yellow glasses when driving distances on cloudy days. I recently made a day trip to Missoula and back, a little over 300 miles round trip. I found them to be very helpful in seeing through cloudy and snow falling conditions.

Our 2023 Traverse has auto headlights that turn on and off and vary hi-low depending on distance between vehicles. It will occasionally turn to low beams when the reflection on a speed limit sign in either side of the road fools it into thinking its a vehicle. It also dimmed on me when coming home from a HS basketball game when the opposing vehicle was almost 2 miles away. It isn't a perfect technology, IMO but the over ride is easily done.
