The bride and I went to the collector show in WY over Memorial Day weekend., then visited with a new HS grad and her family in Newcastle, WY.
We visited friends in Wheatland, Laramie, Riverton and Cheyenne.
All total we traveled through 9 states going to WY and 10 states on the way home. The trip lasted 18 days, over 4600 miles of scenery, numerous gallons of gas and 17 nights in Motels.
We managed to cross off some of our bucket list "places to see" nd cities of interest. We drove home through Deadwood, Sturgis, Wall, Black Hills, Badlands, Mitchell and several other places in SD. We have been to Wall Drug Store and the Corn Palace. Bought numerous souvenier T shirts and have decided that there is nothing we missed on I90.
The next time we may take the southern route and see the Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse monuments and Devil's Tower in WY.
We discovered that the most expensive gas was in WY and SD, but still well below the $3.50 mark...except in a few places.
The cheapest gas was in Mississippi. The lowest we saw was $2.91 but most places had $2.99 and Diesel was $3.15.
Texas may have lots of oil and refineries, but their gas was not the cheapest.
Most places were in the $3.19 range for regular all along the route until we got to WY.
AL dropped down to $3.09 after we got home on the the 5th and has stayed there. Some of the grocery store prices are starting to come down.
Milk and eggs have both dropped, but a 4 box pack of Kleenex has gone up three dollars to$9.99...when they have it.
Even though it was a long haul we had a pretty good time visiting friends, doing the Collector Show and seeing the sights.
We have been home about 10 days and we are still taking lots of naps and trying to work the kinks out.
I think that the best part of the whole trip was getting home.
However we have made next year's reservations and are looking forward to doing it again.
