Recently acquired 625-3 3" .45acp in trade (pics)

A few pics of my new (to me) 625-3 and the three sets of grips and 2 holsters that came with it. I traded my Sig 1911 compact and extras for this outfit + cash to me. The Sig had custom work done as well as extra grips, mags, springs, etc.

I had a 625-3 5" with wood grips at one time, and foolishly sold it to buy a needed telephoto lens. It was one of my all time favorites. This is a little different in the handling, but very nice. Also sold off my 66-3 2.5", so felt I needed to replace the guys. Have several J-frame snubbies, but no big guys in revolvers.

The holsters - one is pancake by Strong (?), the other is a Bianchi Cyclone cross draw.

Grips are Hogue monogrip, S&W combats, and Spegel S++ boot grips.

No, not interested in selling/trading at this time. Who knows what the future will bring. I still need a Sig 220ST with night sights someday.

Appreciate all the great info I have gotten from this site over the years.

I vote for keeping the the Spegels on the gun.

You got the better part of the deal, IMO.

Congrats. I have one that I bought new years ago. One of the few new ones I have bought. In fact may be the only S&W I have purchased new. That could be my gun as I to have Combats and Spegels that each do time on the gun, depending on my needs at the time.

Thanks, guys. I like the Spegels best, so far. They fit my hand better than the combats. I like the extended length of the combats, but they are thicker than the Spegels. Nice to have choices.

The s/n is BEN00xx, so appears to be early -3. I would guess at 1990?

This model doesn't have the sight insert, so tried what I have done before; orange model airplane paint. This time, it is covered with a few coats of a glow in the dark green paint, and topped with clear nail polish. My wife did it as I don't have the steadiness and patience for it.

Works pretty well. In normal light, you see the base coat color (orange in my case), in the dark, you see the green glow.

You got rid if a "bottom feedin auto jammin SOB" and got boot! Was that SIG loaded when you stuck it in his face? You made out on that deal! I ain't tradin with you! Now you need about 100 moon clips before you head to the range! I bet your going too love your new found treasure.

I can not think of any Sig that is worth as much as your new revolver. It looks a lot like my 3" 625-4, and frankly I don't even know what the difference is.

The Spegels are definitely the best of the lot that you have, but you need to curl your pinkey finger under the grips, don't you? I never tried those on an N Frame but they do look a bit short and stubby to me.

The Spegels are boot grips, so the pinky curls under the grip. Actually, not so bad with the .45 acp. Wouldn't want to try it with .44 mag!

There was a good bit of money in the Sig. It was S/S, with factory night sights, factory melt for carry, front and rear straps stippled for grip, had a trigger job, short trigger, curved after market backstrap, no MIM parts, etc. Also had some nice extras to the tune of several hundred dollars. I just didn't adjust to cocked and locked carry. The fellow I traded with prefers 1911s, which worked out well for both of us. We are both satisfied with the deal, which is the only way to go.

Congrats. I looked for one years back couldn't find a 3incher for the life of me. Found out mt twin brother had one NIB. Mine's the same as yours with the black front blade serial BEN500x.

It looks a lot like my 3" 625-4, and frankly I don't even know what the difference is.

I have a -3 five inch and a NIB -4 three inch. One difference is in the extractor star, they require the use of different RIMZ moon clips.
