If the stamping looks like the one on the pictures, it is definitely a George Smith Patton Jr. revolver ;-)))

Congratulations--those are pictures of a Georgia State Patrol .357, but get it lettered to make sure.

Yessir, that's exactly what mine looks like...I plan to get it lettered, along with a Mod58 that's obviously had some work done...Pics to come. Thank you!

Well, which one makes the better story????? :D

LOL! Hopefully you bought the gun and not the story! An early 4" Highway Patrolman is a great revolver...very well made, accurate, and built like a tank. I've got a first year (and birth year) example from July 1954, as well as a few Model 28-2s. They're some of my favorites. I would strongly suspect that your "GSP" revolver was once in use with the Georgia SP and that it stayed in the Georgia area. It makes sense since you live so close. Enjoy!

Well that's a keeper. You have a piece of history. Get that letter.

I have a WW2 bring back that I inherited from my dad who was 3rd ID from early 1944. I have the docs from his command to authorize his possession and ownership. Otherwise it's just a well used piece of junk. May still be but I know the history.

Heirloom though...mine was supposed to be a similar story, but I guess my Dad had to sell his at some point. I've been looking for one since he passed...
