Hey Guys,

Back in Dec I introduced myself just after purchasing a 29-3. Just recently I was able to take it to a local gun range for a few shots. I'm amazed at how little kick it had, the recoil was mostly straight back with minimal muzzle lift. I was shooting some reloads that were given to me, so I don't know what they were, so recoil may be a little different once I run some store bought thru it. It has quad porting and the barrel has been compensated.

While cleaning it, I noticed the grip on the right side doesn't fit flush to the frame. Now I'm thinking about ordering new grips...I'm guessing I need N-frame, round butt grips, if wrong please let me know.

I'm thinking about stag grips from "Eagle Grips" or "Grasshorns Gunworks" with a Tyler T-grip. I'm open to recommendations ya'll might have? Thanks.

There is something different when we shoot the larger S&W N Frames. They seem to have the balance, fit and feel over all the rest of the revolvers that are equal in size for some reason.

I like the larger S&W combat grips for my N frame S&W there available at the S&W store. I did switch to the pachmayer presentation grips for a while but the misses doesn't like the rubber look on my grips. Since she is finally getting involved with guns i value her opinion. I have to say there's nothing like a good looking piece wood for my grips. I stayed with wood stocks on all my rifles too.

grips

My 629 Mountain gun came from the factory with Houge grips.. I put a pair on my 686.. Love them.. Cheap too.. Good luck..

For me, I like the Hogue monogrips. I have smaller hands and they seem to fit me and they are readily available and are not that expensive so I don't worry too much about damaging them.

Yours looks like RB frame and I am not sure they make them for that configuration. All of my frames are SB.

On one of my ruger security sixes i special ordered a pair of heret grips made to the size of my hand i drew on paper and sent it to them. The fit to my hand is spot on. Thats another option we have if they still do it.

I just put a set of Ahrends' grips on my 625:

I highly recommend them but be warned that it's about a 10~12 week wait these days.

Those grips you have right now are very nice. Get a Tyler-T and add it to your current grip.

I vote for ahrends and I'm slowly putting them on most of my revolvers, they just seem to fit my hand better then anything else I've tried plus I think they look great, stocks are like women they come in different sizes the key here is to try different grips and find out what you like

Another vote for Ahrends. I like the round butt for concealability, either boot (end of frame) or tactical (room for pinky). The longer grip gives better torque control with hot, .44 magnum loads. The boot looks better.

I prefer wood Hogues, specifically the smooth, finger variety.

Here's a couple N frames, they're 624 ND's, but the same frame dimensions as yours.

Here's a couple 44 magnums, one a square butt:

In your particular situation, I'd get a Tyler T-Grip or the BK version and try that first. They are real nice and fill the hand well. I've got one on a 36 and like it.
