regular shield plus striker block (bottom)
new comp carry (top).
seems to be two different configurations ????
regular plus striker is taller than the new comp carry.

The new comp carry has absolutely no auditable reset and not even a physical reset you can feel when shooting.

Is this a problem I need to ask S&W to look at due to the fact that the regular plus has such a better trigger??????

Any suggestions would be appreciated.....thanks

I believe what you are seeing is that the carry comp striker block is not fully engaged. Try pulling the striker rearward and see if the block pops up (blocking the striker) and then appears as tall as the standard shield plus striker block.

I believe you will also see that the carry comp striker can be moved forward, exposing the firing pin, when it is in the lower unlocked position. S&W will tell you this is acceptable since the striker will be pushed back (locking the block) when chambering a round.

It looks like S&W installed a lot of what I call non-Performance Center striker blocks (without beveled edges) in carry comps.

Carry Comp conceals just fine..same holster

I bought my shield for concealment so I would go with the shorter barrel personally. If you're buying a range gun, the shield ain't it.

Here is my regular shield plus in my IWBA carry holster

And here is the carry comp shield plus in the same holster.

there is no difference in concealment...It is just fine and I carry
appendix.

Not sure why that is? Mine has a very positive physical reset and it's also audible. Make sure your gun is empty with no mag, rack it, pull the trigger and hold it, rack it again, slowly release the trigger and you should feel the reset and hear a click. It will do the same thing when live firing.

Attached is a pic of my Carry Comp striker block in the up and striker locked position. It's the correct striker block, per S&W, that they sent me after complaining about the gritty trigger. I polished the striker channel when I had it apart and now it is as smooth as my PC Shield Plus.

After dye firing about 25 times, I now have the audible reset and the physical reset....guess I just reacted to quickly.......thanks
